Privacy Policy

FadZmart is a marketplace app where people buy and sell with each other. This policy explains what information we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
Who we are
FadZmart is based in Zanzibar, Tanzania. In this policy, “FadZmart”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of the FadZmart app and fadzmart.com. You can reach us at support@fadzmart.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password when you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase Authentication and are never visible to us.
- Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google.
- Profile: your profile photo, area and bio, if you add them.
- Listings: the title, description, price, category, condition, location and photos of items you post.
- Messages: the text and photos you send to other users in chats.
- Saved listings: the listings you save.
- Support requests: anything you send us when you contact support.
Information collected automatically
- Technical information that our service providers need to run and secure the app, such as your IP address, device type, operating system and app version. Firebase uses this, for example, to detect suspicious sign-in attempts.
- Notification token: if you allow notifications, a device token so we can send you alerts, such as new messages.
We don't collect your precise GPS location. The location on a listing is the text you type.
How we use it
- To create and secure your account and sign you in.
- To show your listings to buyers and let people message each other.
- To send you notifications you've allowed, and important emails such as password resets.
- To keep FadZmart safe: preventing fraud, spam and prohibited items, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
- To fix problems and improve the app.
- To meet legal obligations.
What other people can see
- Everyone, including people without an account, can see your listings, along with your name and the month you joined.
- The person you chat with can see your name, profile photo and the messages and photos you send them.
- Your email address is not shown to other users.
Only share in a listing or chat what you're comfortable with the other person seeing.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. We share it only with:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC), which provides our sign-in, database, file storage, notifications and email delivery. Google processes this information on our behalf.
- Google Sign-In, if you choose to use it.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, or if it's needed to protect someone's safety or rights.
- A new owner, if FadZmart is ever sold or merged. They would have to keep protecting your information as this policy describes.
Where it's stored
Your information is stored on Google's servers, which may be outside Tanzania. Google protects it with industry-standard security, including encryption in transit.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, profile photo, listings, listing photos and saved listings. Messages you sent stay visible to the people you chatted with, because they're part of their conversation too. Backups may keep copies for a short time before they're overwritten. We may keep limited information longer if the law requires it or to resolve disputes.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correct: you can see and edit your profile and listings in the app at any time.
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Profile, then Privacy & Security, then Delete account. You can also email us to ask for deletion.
- Notifications: you can turn them off in your phone's settings.
- Other requests: under data protection laws, including Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Act, 2022, you can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to stop certain uses, or complain. Email support@fadzmart.com. You can also complain to the Personal Data Protection Commission of Tanzania.
Children
FadZmart is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We use Google Firebase's security features to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password that you don't use anywhere else, and never share it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
